Generative Violin (2021)
Autodesk Technology Centre | Dartmoor Violins
An electric violin made from a single block of maple using Generative Design. Working with professional luthier Kevin Baslé, we applied generative design in an unusual way: prioritising ergonomics and aesthetics while optimising for strength and weight.
The results from generative design often appear to mimic nature. We leaned into that, using a natural material and centuries-old crafting techniques to create a modern instrument that takes the best from technology and nature, human and machine.
